As the Founder of National Capital Funding LLC., Roger conceived, created, and successfully developed a process to bring a true one-time close construction-to-permanent loan program to the factory-built and site-built housing industries. He had a diverse background as a mortgage lending consultant and as a homebuilder in the affordable housing sector. From 1988 to 1998, Roger was President/Owner of Romak & Associates, Inc., a development and construction firm whose primary focus was to cultivate the concept of affordable housing. Romak & Associates, Inc. constructed single-family affordable housing and provided financing to their customer base via USDA Rural Development, FHA and VA loan programs. He also served as National Director of the National Association of Home Builders. He had been a general partner in several limited partnerships where he guided and focused on the development of affordable housing. Roger had extensive experience and expertise with one-time close mortgage financing and the construction and mortgage industries. A Personal Note about Roger: "I had the unique opportunity to work with dad side by side for 19 years. Through all the ups and downs of life and business, he was always there. He was knowledgeable about so much, had so much practical experience in so many areas of life, and I'm confident he could literally fix anything. From farming with his mom and dad, brother, and sisters as a young child growing up in eastern Kentucky, to starting his first business repairing lawn mowers before he was a teen, to turning wrenches as a mechanic in his mid to late teen years and eventually on heavy equipment in the coal mines, to starting his own dairy farm in Kentucky, then managing one of the largest (at the time) dairy farms on the east coast in Maryland, to inventing a dairy feed additive called Bio-Boost and selling it internationally, to remodeling homes, then to building new homes and developing land on the eastern shore of Maryland and eventually in Texas, to mortgage lending, and finally the last 20+ years in the residential construction lending world, plus so many other things he was into along the way. He was the epitome of an entrepreneur. He taught me so much. He was and is my hero. He would encourage me and guide me. I could ask him for help with anything and often did. He was a problem solver. He was always there and that's going to be the hardest part going forward. Dad loved us well. Dad loved others well. And most of all, Dad loved his Lord Jesus well. He’s left a great legacy that will never be forgotten. I am so proud to be Roger McKnight’s son and look forward to the task of carrying on his legacy, both personally and professionally." - Travis McKnight, President/CEO |
